“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation.” — Audre Lorde
Life can feel overwhelming at times — whether you’re navigating grief, anxiety, trauma, or periods of change. You might be feeling stuck, lost, or unsure of how to move forward. Individual counselling offers a space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with what matters to you. My role is to walk alongside you — not to “fix,” but to support you in uncovering your own resilience and wisdom.
What to Expect in our Initial Session
A Safe, Welcoming Space
From the moment we begin, you’ll be welcomed into a calm and supportive environment. My priority is to help you feel heard, respected, and emotionally safe as we explore what brings you to therapy.
Informed Consent
During our first session, we’ll go over the counselling process together — including confidentiality, potential benefits and risks, and your rights as a client. This helps create clarity and transparency, so you feel confident in your choice to begin this work.
Therapeutic Approach
I draw on a multi-integrative approach grounded in evidence-based theories and practices. These include, but are not limited to:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Compassion Focsed Therapy
- Narrative Therapy
- Schema Therapy
- Body-oriented modalities for addressing PTSD such as EMDR and Somatic Experiencing.
Regardless of the specific tools or approaches we explore, our work together will always be rooted in my foundational counselling framework — one that is trauma-informed, strength-based, culturally responsive, and guided by an ethic of social justice. My goal is to ensure the therapeutic process feels attuned to your lived experience and aligned with your values.
I welcome individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic, spiritual, religious, and non-religious backgrounds, as well as folx who identify as racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, or living with disabilities. My practice is committed to holding space that is inclusive, trauma-informed, and grounded in social justice — with deep respect for the complexity of our intersectional identities and lived experiences.

Compassionate Inquiry & Strength-Based Assessment
Our conversations will be guided by deep curiosity and care. In the early sessions, I’ll explore with you the broader context of your life — including personal history, cultural background, and areas of strength. This helps us co-create a therapeutic plan that feels meaningful and sustainable.
Collaborative Goal Setting
You don’t need to have all the answers before you start. We’ll identify goals together — whether you’re looking to heal from something specific, build coping tools, or grow in new directions. The work will move at your pace.
